Team75plus.com made a mini-interview with Benn Harradine. How has been your winter training? Where? Right after World Championships I spent a little time taking a holiday around Europe, just a week to see some friends before I went back home to Australia. When I finally made it home, I had my knees assessed again. It turned out that the damage was fairly severe and I had to have another 2 procedures done on them. I spent the months from October until January rehabilitating my injuries and doing some general preparation for my season ahead. January 4th I took off to Germany a weight training peak and also some technical work with Jurgen and the squad. We had 10 days in Kienbaum enjoying the snow and I am still in Potsdam until Febuary 24. It certainly has been interesting coming from mid 40 degree temperatures, swimming at the beach, to -10 and frolicking in the snow. I will then head home for the Australian Domestic Season and trials for the Commonwealth Games in New Dehli, India. As always I am loving working out here in Germany. I really enjoy the atmosphere and also catching up with some great friends along the way. Jurgen sure makes certain that whilst the training is intense, we still have a great amount of fun! Where do you have your trainingcamps? I will be in the USA in April-May this year, and then of course back to Europe for the summer. Your improvements in the weight room, current records? To be honest my focus this year is on speed. The intensity of my weight workouts are purely focused on moving as fast as I can. I totally understand its purpose and I am really looking forward to seeing it cross over into my throwing. Plans in 2010? Biggest competitions, goals for this year. My plans for 2010 are to win the Commonwealth Games in New Dehli. I would also like to finish in the top 4 in Split. Do you see any future in brick-throwing for you? I do love to throw a brick. Let me tell you, its not as easy as it seems. Getting the brick to fly right is a challenge. I would like to break the world record again, maybe there is more money in that than discus throwing?? Who knows... :) Having the title, "World Champion Brick Thrower" is certainly something I am proud of. Anything else you would like to add? I have really enjoyed the last year. It has been a steep learning curve for me and a few people who are close to me have certainly inspired me to make a change for the better. Not only by their performances but by their willingness to share their knowledge and support. They know exactly who they are and I would like to say thank-you. You make this journey so much more enjoyable. My coach Gus, and also my Mentor, Jurgen have been so perfectly supportive of my dreams and for that I can't thank them enough. Thank you Benn for the interview! Team75plus.com
