Summer track & field season was opened in Nouméa.
Great results were shown in Nouméa, where only a 14 year-old Jacko Gill (New Zealand) improved 3 times New Zealand's national U16 age record in shot put. That was just an amazing show for Jacko who is turing 15 in December - previous record (18.38m) was improved to 19.72m. Jacko' s French coach Didier Poppe is expecting big throws in next weeks, of course in shot and also in discus. Gongratulations to Jacko and Didier. Nouméa is the capital city of the French territory of New Caledonia. It is situated on a peninsula in the south of New Caledonia's main island, Grande Terre, and is home to the majority of the island's European, Polynesian (Wallisians, Futunians, Tahitians), Indonesian, and Vietnamese populations, as well as many Melanesians, Ni-Vanuatu and Kanaks that work in one of the South Pacific's most industrialised cities. The city lies on a protected deepwater harbour which serves as the chief port for New Caledonia. View Larger Map |
