Bartels, Cantwell & Majewski at Berlin World Championships 2009 press conference

Emotions and results from Berlin Olympic stadium.
Christian Cantwell finally got what he wanted! Cantwell said it feels really good to win a competition, where 6th position is 20.98m. After Majewskis 21.91 on the 5th round Cantwell just said himself "slow down, quit rushing" and it worked. Winning result 22.03m on the 5th round is just 20cm less than the championships record held by Werner Günthör (1987).

Current Olympic champion Tomasz Majewski threw near his PB but this was only enough for silver. Majewski was a little upset he could not reach the title. He said that our plans are not always fulfilled, so he has a lot to do in the next 2 years to fight for the world title again.

Biggest surprise of the night, German Ralf Bartels said, he feels crazy. The atmosphere in the team is overwhelming. It was great to win a medal at home. His knees were getting soft and shacky. New PB (21.37m) for him on the third round and bronze medal. Congratulations!
