Olympic Champion Tomasz Majewski (POL qualified with 21.19m), who easily qualified on his first attempt said that the feeling was good but this is just a qualification and now he only wants to focus on the final. He also said he feels, that he is in the best shape of his life.

American Christian Cantwell, who was third in the qualification, said that he is fine. He just got a chance and now he just waits for his attempts tonight.

Defending champion, Reese Hoffa had a rough qualification and confessed: "I am not sure what exactly was missing today to qualify straight with a better mark. Maybe the competition wasd too early or the attempts were following too fast" He said, that he had some technical issues but he knows the problem and can fix it. He added "I am in 21m shape or higher"
